Health Benefits of a Facial Massage

Health Benefits of a Facial Massage

While you might have had a back or neck massage, a facial massage is a little different. While having a professional facial will work out kinks in your shoulders and relax your sore and tired muscles, it also provides a host of other benefits. Here are some reasons to consider getting a facial massage.

It Increases Circulation

The first major benefit to getting a facial massage is the fact that it can help to increase circulation of your face. This is due to the circular motions of the massage on your cheeks, forehead, chin, and neck. When circulation is increased, blood flow and oxygen flow soon follow. This provides a lot of amazing benefits for natural beauty, including helping to soften those lines you have around your mouth and eyes.

Products are Easily Absorbed into the Skin

During the winter season, you are probably working hard on your skin, especially your face. You might experience a lot of dryness, cracking of your lips, and need to switch up your makeup routine to cover flushing from the cold winds. If you want these types of products to work properly, you need to give your skin a little boost. With a facial massage, it actually helps the products to absorb better into your skin thanks to that increase in circulation that was already discussed.
You Can Increase Collagen Production
Yet another benefit of the increased circulation that a facial massage provides you is that it can help to boost collagen production. You already have collagen in your body, which everyone has. However, as you age, the production begins to slow more and more, which is where those fine lines and wrinkles come from. If you want to improve your skin condition and have a more youthful appearance, collagen is the secret. A great way to naturally boost collagen production is by getting a facial massage.

Spa Treatments for Cold Weather

Spa Treatments for Cold Weather

If you are someone that likes to pamper yourself, you shouldn’t stop in the winter. In fact, winter is the best time for facials. The following will make you feel rejuvenated all winter long.

Face and Body Scrubs

The first great way to pamper yourself with an at-home spa experience is with scrubs. These are wonderful for your skin, since they exfoliate away dead skin cells and leave behind a refreshed, smooth finish. Not only should you use scrubs on your face and neck, but on your body as well. They are great to smoothing out rough, dry areas and getting rid of dry skin that clogs your pores. You can make your own scrubs with just a few ingredients, including salt or sugar, some oils like coconut or argan oil, and scents from essential oils.
Try some of my at home products to help dry, winter skin.

Face Masks

Face masks are another way to pamper yourself at home. If you want to have a spa night with your girlfriends or your kids, you can either get face masks from your local store, or make them yourself. Sheet masks are often easier to get from the store, and there are many to choose from with more natural ingredients. You can also make your own masks with simple natural ingredients you have in your kitchen.
I also have wonderful professional masks that aid all types of weather beaten skin. Ingredients like algae, hyaluronic acid and green tea soothe winter worn complexions.

At-Home Facials

Who doesn’t love a good facial? If you like going to a spa or salon, definitely still do that this winter! Your skin can benefit from gentle facials, but be careful with any varieties that dry your skin. For cold weather, you want to stick to the gentle, moisturizing facials. At home, this often uses a lot of kitchen ingredients and oils that provide moisture. This include masks and simple skin facials using ingredients like apple cider vinegar, sea salt, avocado, aloe vera gel, argan oil, and coconut oil.

If you want to go to a spa and get skin treatments during the winter season, which I highly recommend, make sure you use an experienced esthetician like myself, who knows skin types and how to change treatments according to the season. If you have a skin disorder that already is affected from dryness, like rosacea, you want to be gentle with any exfoliation and choose non abrasive products. Try a mild fruit or oxygen enzyme facial with LED or microcurrent that may reduce inflammation. A nice green tea algae mask can calm the most irritated skin. Book a facial, I’m happy to help!

12 Popular Healing Crystals

12 Popular Healing Crystals

If you are someone like me that has an avid interest in natural health, you have likely considered using healing crystals. While the term crystal is often confused with others, it is essentially just a type of raw form of gemstone. You probably recognize a lot of the more common gemstone names like amethyst and rose quartz, but don’t realize many of these have healing properties. If you’ve been in for a facial lately, you’ve no doubt experienced the high vibrations of my healing stones.
When you are working on natural healing, it is good to incorporate a lot of different forms of healing, from herbs to essential oils. But don’t forget about the crystals! As you start collecting healing crystals, such as the ones described here, you will hold them in your hand or place them on different parts of your body. This helps to remove negative energy and promote healing in those areas of the body.
Here are 12 of the more popular healing crystals and some information about the healing properties they each possess.

1. Quartz

This is definitely one of the most common and popular crystals to use for healing powers. What you will find is that there are many forms of quartz, including rose quartz which is also on this list due to its unique healing powers. But when you just see ‘quartz’, they are usually referring to the basic quartz, which is a clear and almost translucent crystal. Clear quartz is an all around good stone to start with as it can be used on a number of issues.
Healing Powers of Quartz
Quartz helps with improving your focus, alertness, and stimulating your brain function. It is often used to provide general positive energy, helping you feel body and making you more conscious during work and school. It is also great because it is easy to get ahold of.

2. Onyx

Next on the list is onyx, an interesting black crystal that usually has more of an opaque appearance. You will find onyx used a lot in jewelry as a black gemstone. Onyx, like quartz, comes in different colors, but we are talking about the dark, black onyx here.
Healing Powers of Black Onyx
With black onyx, you will use it when you are experiencing emotional stress in most cases. It can help with high amounts of stress and anxiety, or when you are grieving after losing a loved one or pet. It can also help with confusion, as well as provide some physical benefits like improving your stamina. If you feel like your energy is being drained from emotional causes, black onyx is a good crystal to have on hand.

3. Amethyst

Amethyst is a beautiful gemstone that also works great for a healing crystal. It is the birthstone for February and is often used with zodiac signs like Aquarius, Capricorn, Virgo, and Pisces. This crystal comes in different shades of purple, depending on the rock it comes from.

Healing Powers of Amethyst
Amethyst provides some of the same benefits as quartz since it is a type of quartz, including improving brain potential and alertness. It is also frequently used to help with the lack of energy and headache pain from hangovers. You can also use amethyst when you want to connect a little better with your spirituality.

4. Labradorite

You may not recognize the name of labradorite, but you should definitely become more familiar with it. This is a type of feldspar that comes in vibrant colors, usually multi-colored. It has colors like blues and purples, often with flecks or streaks of green, yellow, and red. Some labradorite can also have brown or grey in it. It looks like it has black, but that is actually just a very dark purple or blue.

Healing Powers of Labradorite
Labradorite can help a lot with your intuition, being used if you want to find what psychic abilities you have. You can use it to help with your level of consciousness, protect your aura, and help you with changes in your life. It is excellent for increasing your perseverance through struggles you might be going through.

5. Blue Agate

Agate on its own can be a powerful healing crystal, but this often comes in a yellowish orange and brown tinted gemstone. While agates themselves are excellent for protection and emotional strength, we want to go over a type of agate called blue lace agate, or blue agate.

Healing Powers of Blue Agate
This healing stone is used very often when you have chakra healing done with different stones and crystals. It is of course a blue crystal, which is often used for throat chakra. In throat chakra, you are improving your voice, opening it up and clearing it. You can use this for physical and emotional expressions and improve the positive energy in this part of your body. Blue lace agate is also great for balancing out the positive energy in your body.
You will see blue agate frequently used in necklaces or chokers, since it sits on your skin close to your throat.

6. Aquamarine

This is a beautiful healing crystal that many people are familiar with. You might have chosen a pair of earrings or ring with aquamarine because you enjoyed the beautiful blue-green appearance, but had no idea of its healing properties. Aquamarine looks like the sea, so it helps a lot with promoting calm and relaxation.
Healing Powers of Aquamarine
When you use aquamarine as a healing crystal, it can balance out your emotions and help with relaxing you in times of stress or anxiety. It can clear your mind, so it is great for holding onto during a meditation session. In chakra healing, aquamarine is used with heart chakra to help you with your self-expression and find your identity.

7. Topaz

This is one of those excellent gemstone crystals that comes in a wide range of colors and varieties. You should know that each type of topaz does have some unique healing properties and benefits, but any topaz will also have the general healing powers.
You can find topaz in a colorless form, similar to quartz. It is also frequently found in oranges and browns, red, pink, yellow, green, and even a bright blue color.
Healing Powers of Topaz
Topaz is all about restoring positive energy in your body and removing the negative energy. When you need motivation and to be re-charged, this is a good healing crystal to use. It can help with many things affecting your body’s energy, from healing and soothing physical ailments, to providing joy and abundance when you need it. If you need to forgive someone, it can help you find peace with that as well.

8. Jade

If you have ever purchased a piece of jewelry with a gemstone that isn’t translucent, but more of a solid, matte appearance, you might have jade. Aside from onyx, this is one of the only healing crystals that looks like this. It is a deep green crystal, though some are darker or lighter. Jade is often used in Asian-inspired designs and has been used as a good luck charm for many years.
Healing Powers of Jade
So what can jade help with? It is the crystal to use when you are setting goals and trying to manifest positive dreams. Jade stands for transformation, so people will use the crystal when they have fears they are trying to get rid of, as well as work on their future self. You can also use jade for encouraging feelings of generosity and courage. Jade his also wonderful on the skin. You can use it to massage in your serums.
With jade, it is all about finding a more fulfilling life.

9. Rose Quartz

If you were born in April-May or September-October, you might be a big fan of rose quartz. It is often associated with Libras and Taurus’s. Rose quartz is a type of quartz that has more of a pinkish hue. This is also frequently associated with love and romance, often being a gemstone people put in jewelry that they will gift their significant other. However, it has many other healing properties as well.
Healing Powers of Rose Quartz
When you use rose quartz, it will provide a relaxing and calming atmosphere. If you have a lot of negative energy that you feel is harming your emotional energy, this is a good crystal to use. You can also use it to help promote a healthy relationship and secure the bond between you and a loved one.
Rose quartz is a good healing crystal for yourself or to give to others. It also makes a good apology gift for a loved one to improve the positive energy between the two of you.

10. Obsidian

Obsidian is another darker stone, which is often confused with black onyx. It can be a black, translucent crystal or a very dark green that looks nearly black. Obsidian comes from volcanic glass, and is formed when lava from a volcano cools.
Healing Powers of Obsidian
With obsidian, you get physical and emotional healing properties. For physical benefits, it is excellent with arthritis and joint pain, as well as any extremity pain, muscle cramps, and even indigestion. Many people also use obsidian when trying to detoxify their body.
There are also emotional healing powers, including protecting your energy and blocking psychic attacks. It is good for tension and stress, as well as anxiety. If you have a lot of confusion, you can gain more clarity with obsidian.
You will also get other healing properties, depending on the type of obsidian you use. There is golden obsidian, which is best for protection and balancing the energy in your body. You can get black obsidian for self-control and resolving negative thoughts, or mahogany obsidian for helping with your aura.

11. Lapis Lazuli

Lapis lazuli is another healing crystal often chosen for jewelry and accessories based on its vibrant color. It comes in a brilliant, royal blue color, but with flecks of gold and other colors interspersed in the crystal. Lapis lazuli is a semi-precious gemstone that comes from a blue metamorphic rock.
Healing Powers of Lapis Lazuli
You should use lapis lazuli as a healing crystal when you are having trouble with finding yourself and mental clarity. It is perfect for achieving a higher level of consciousness and better awareness of yourself. This is also used in throat chakra for healing crystal chakra treatments. In addition to self-awareness, lapis lazuli can also help you with finding your communication and creativity. If you have harmful energy, it will replace it with positive energy.
You can use lapis lazuli in a stone that is in its raw or polished form by holding it in your hand or against your throat, or wear it around your neck where it is used throughout the day for positive energy.

12. Citrine

The last healing crystal we want to talk about is citrine. If you were born in November, you might have had birthstone jewelry with the bright orange color of citrine. Both bluish-green topaz and orange citrine have been associated with the November birthdays.
Citrine is powered by the sun, so you will see that a lot of its health properties have to do with light and sunshine.
Healing Powers of Citrine
Cleansing your aura of negative energy is one of the bigger health benefits of citrine as a healing crystal. It will provide happiness and joy to your life, bringing out your inner light, and providing you with positive energy. You can also get more focus and clarity when you use citrine, along with energizing your body and mind.

Hope you enjoyed this information on the many powers of crystals. Text or call 513-304-0257 and book a crystal facial to experience them yourself.

3 Reasons for a Men’s Facial

3 Reasons for a Men’s Facial

Having a professional skin treatment isn’t girly at all. In fact,
there are many good reasons for men of all ages to have professional
skin treatments. Here are just 3

1. Skin damage from shaving routines can’t be
fixed with the soap and water you use every day.

In fact the soap and water strips your skin of it
natural protective barrier making it more susceptible to damage.

2. Men have thicker, oilier skin and larger pores.

This, coupled with the soap and water routine, leads
to clogged pores, rosacea, acne and loss of elasticity (saggy jowls).

3. It’s healthy.

Men are more likely to skip out on using sunscreen and those that
spend a lot of time outdoors end up with sun damage showing up as
not only wrinkles but end up with unattractive dark spots and red
dry patches that never go away can likely be pre-cancerous.

To keep your skin healthy, consider this the 3-point case for treating your face to a facial.

What is Microcurrent?

Microcurrent is one of the hottest innovations in the anti-aging industry and is used in top spas and medical offices for facial contouring, toning and firming of aging skin. Microcurrent is a low-level current that mimics the body’s natural current and can provide both instant and cumulative results. Because microcurrent works sub-sensory, the treatment is soothing and most clients feel nothing at all.
It is a safe and effective technology for clients who wish to attain and maintain a healthier, younger looking appearance. The results can be so dramatic that microcurrent treatments are often referred to as a 5 Minute Facial-lift.
Origin of Microcurrent
In 1980, a Chinese doctor, Thomas W. Wing. fifth generation Chinese Doctor introduced a microcurrent instrument which was found to be beneficial in the treatment of muscles. It was approved by the FDA as a muscle stimulator, but found an unexpected benefit in the Beauty industry for cellular rejuvenation, facial toning and wrinkle reduction.

How Does Microcurrent Work?
Microcurrent is an alternating current that is used with an oil free gel that conducts the current through the facial muscles. It’s capable of facial stimulation by sending a gentle current through the skin, tissues and down to the facial muscles. Microcurrent has been shown to stimulate ATP production, in turn, creating collagen and elastin. The lack of collagen and elastin is what causes skin to sag and then we look older than we need to. ATP is the vitality of your cells.

Go to Bed Naked

Naked… as in without make up.

Washing your face at night is important and here’s why:

Our environment is pretty dirty and our skin works hard to protect us. Dirt, bacteria and pollutants stick to our make up irritating skin, clogging pores and aggravating breakout prone skin.

Using a gentle cleanser at night washes away the dirt, bacteria and make up, freeing your pores to breath, heal and repair, most of which is done at night while we sleep. If you don’t take 3 minutes to wash your face, pores stay clogged, bacteria grows and  skin becomes dull and lackluster and for the oily skinned among us, breakouts are likely.

For breakout prone skin, make up and dirt clog pores, trapping bacteria inside. When pores are clogged, oxygen can’t reach them. This trapped bacteria causes blackheads and whiteheads. So here’s a fun fact, bacteria can’t live in an oxygenated environment so it is essential to keep your face clean to reduce breakouts.

Take off your mascara too. Mascara can be drying to eyelashes thus causing them to become brittle and thin. They need a break too.

My painless way to wash away the day:

Drop some creamy cleanser in your hand, apply to face  (no water needed yet) make sure to use circular motions and be gentle on the eyes. Wet a wash cloth with warm water and use it to rinse and wipe off the cleanser along with the make up…No splashing required. Now serums and moisturizers can be applied and have all night to infuse beauty into your skin. Still too tired? Wash your face early. You don’t have to wait until you are ready to drop into bed exhausted.  I promise you it will be worth it!
